I’ve only recently started programming, but there is nothing else I have ever picked up as quickly or loved as much. Even so, I reckon I may be getting ahead of myself when I start delving into equipment like game engines (id4, openGL, havoc…)

What kind of equipment do I need to know before I can start utilizing and understanding the APIs for game engines?

About a year, but it also depends on your skill level with mathematics and physics.
